Jewelry Care
We are often asked if our jewelry can be worn in the sea, at the pool, during workouts, in the shower, or alongside a watch or other jewelry. The answer is yes.
Our pieces are designed to be lived in and loved, whether you wear them every day or reserve them for special occasions. Many of our clients never take theirs off, and that is perfectly fine.
That said, if you would like to give your jewelry a little extra care to keep it looking as radiant as the day you received it, we have prepared this guide. Proper care not only preserves the beauty of your pieces but also protects the fine craftsmanship behind them, ensuring they remain part of your story for generations to come.
Understanding Your Jewelry
Diamonds
Diamonds are the hardest natural material on Earth, but they are not entirely carefree. Oils from your skin, traces of lotion, and everyday dust can settle into the setting or beneath the stone, softening their sparkle. Over time, settings, especially those worn daily, can loosen slightly. For pavé and other delicate settings, the fine prongs that hold each diamond in place deserve a little extra attention. A quick check now and then ensures your stones stay secure and brilliant.
18K Solid Gold
We work exclusively with 18K solid gold because it offers the ideal combination of luxury and durability. It contains 75% pure gold, which gives it a rich, luminous color that lower-karat alloys simply cannot match. The remaining 25% is a blend of metals. This alloying process strengthens the gold so it can be worn daily while also allowing us to create different hues.
- White gold is achieved by adding palladium and then finishing with a rhodium plating for a bright, cool tone.
- Yellow gold is balanced with silver and copper to enhance its natural glow.
- Rose gold is created by increasing the copper content for a warm blush hue.
18K gold resists tarnishing better than lower-karat gold due to its higher purity, but that purity also makes it slightly softer. Over years of wear, you may notice fine hairline scratches or a softened surface polish, which is a natural part of its aging and can be refreshed through professional polishing. The metals in the alloy can also react subtly to friction, exposure to chemicals, and perspiration, which over time may cause a gradual shift in surface luster. With mindful care, however, 18K gold retains its beauty for decades and is an enduring choice for fine jewelry.
Essential Care Tips
Proper Storage
Store each piece separately in a cool, dry place to prevent scratches and tangling. A soft, fabric-lined pouch or a jewelry box with individual compartments is ideal, as it creates a barrier against dust, moisture, and contact with other jewelry. If you do not have a suitable pouch, we recommend using a clean, soft cloth to wrap each piece before storing it.
Regular Cleaning
Give your jewelry a gentle soak in lukewarm water with a drop of mild dish soap. Using a soft-bristled toothbrush, lightly brush around the setting and any fine details, then rinse and pat dry. A quick polish with a soft cloth will restore its glow.
What to Avoid
Harsh Chemicals
Keep jewelry away from bleach, chlorine, and household cleaners, which can weaken gold and dull diamonds.
Lotions & Perfumes
Apply personal care products before wearing jewelry to prevent buildup that can cloud gemstones and metals.
Contact Sports
Remove jewelry during any sport where there's a risk of high-impact with other people or equipment. This includes activities where your jewelry might get knocked, caught, or pressed.
